Good & Bad

Life in the month of June has been pretty exciting so far.
1. My little sister Cami graduated from high school
2. My older sister Melissa came in town for a week with her little boy Henry and new little one Jetta Jane (just 3 months old). We went to the lake 3 times, spent an afternoon on the Heber Creeper, hiked at Cascade Springs, and ate a ton of food!
3. Currently my mother-in-law is in town. This is always a treat, she loves to spoil her grandkids. Tomorrow we will be going to the toy store so she can buy them each a special gift.
4. And the best of June begins on Tuesday.... LAKE POWELL!!! I can't wait to spend my week laying in the sun (with sunscreen of course) and the unlimited skiing is always my favorite!

Bad news for the month of June.
1. Our camera was stolen.
2. Our home computer went out.
3. Our vacumm stopped working.
4. A piece of one of my back molars broke off.
5. Money does not grow on trees for us!

All in all - this month has brought a lot of good with a lot of bad. Thankfully the bad can all be fixed! We replaced the computer and the vacuum. I am on my way tomorrow to get a new camera and when I am home from Lake Powell I will go in to have my back molar fixed.

ALL OF MY FAVORITE THINGS

4. Strawberries and Artichokes
5. Comfortable Clothes - sweats, t-shirts, slippers....
6. Pacifiers! (precious peace and quite)
7. A good chick flick. The Holiday, How To Loose A Guy in 10 Days, Titanic!
8. The MALL. I love the MALL.
9. Sugar. I know it is so bad for the body and teeth - but I have to admit, I am a sugar-addict!
10. My knowledge of the gospel and the peace it brings to my life. I love Gordon B. Hinckley!

I love to laugh, and here are a few things that keep laughter in my life.

1. Anything and everything about Jackson
2. My crazy husband
3. My crazy husband and his crazy brother (Brad) together
4. Aspen Grove memories and Neil Diamond!
5. High School (can anyone say PARTY AT TRACIES?)
6. My two favorite neices - Abbie and Lille... "its so funny, its so funny"!
7. The Gorilla Mask (I guess laugh and cry at the same time)
8. The Office.... need I say more?
9. Newly married couples and their hormones... ?
10. I have to say it again, anything and everything about Jackson!

May Book Reading

Alright everyone, it is the beginning of June which means time to update you on what I read for May. This month was a little different than last. The books I read were not necessarily "fun & interesting". Rather they had alot of good and needed information.

The first book I read was "Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus" by John Gray, Ph.D. In a weird way I have always wanted to read this book. I think I was curious about what was between the pages. We all know men and women are dramatically different, and as we get married it becomes even more so! My sister-in-law Jaime told me she and Brad had read it and how funny it was to say... "do you really think like that?". So I decided to take on the mystery and see what this John Gray had to say.
It is actually very interesting and funny at the same time. Now when I stupidly get frusterated at Scott for simply responding a certain way (the male way) - I understand why I get frusterated. So for those of you that are curious why men are the way they are and why women are the way we are - read this book. It is very entertaining!

The second book was given to me for Mothers Day, it is "I Am a Mother" by Jane Clayson Johnson. All I can say is AMAZING! It is so uplifting and insipiring as she talks about how women should be proud to be a mother and what motherhood accomplishes. Every mom-to-be and mother out there has to read this book!

The last book on my list is "Raising Up A Family To The Lord" by Gene R. Cook. This was also given to me for Mothers day by my own mom. I have not yet finished this book - but so far it is also a must read. My mom told me that if I only read one religous parenting book, this should be it. I personally am quite terrified to raise my children in the world today. This book helps calm my worries as he discusses different obsicles that come up for children and how a parent can direct the situation with the Lords guidance. What parent doesn't need guidance in raising up a family to the Lord?

I had a very uplfting month with the books I chose. I think the month of June I will keep on a lighter note - something a little more fun. If any of you have a book you recommend let me know!

finally candices wedding pics!

Alright everyone, here are the long awaited pictures from Candice and Adams wedding!!! The picture below is obviously all the bridesmaids. To the left of Candice are her two cute new sister-in-laws, and then to the right her sisters. If you look closely you can see that we are all wearing the same jewelry. Candice made us all matching neclaces, earings, and rings - and they were all in her wedding colors, so cute...Below are all of Adams groomsmen. Very GQ....

Adam shocked Candice with a get-a-way in a helicopter! It was by far the most exciting departure that I have ever seen.

LAKE TIME

One of my most favorite things about the summer is going to the lake. I basically grew up on a boat. My summers were always planned around lake trips; whether is was to Lake Mead, Lake Powell, Idaho, or a 15 minute drive - our family was there. I am very excited to say that our boating summer is here. We went out just the other day with the potential to get into the water - but when Scott and I realized it was a whole 68 degrees - we passed.

Jackson was born a boater as well. Thankgoodness! Scott and I think it is because I waterskiied until I was 4 months pregnant... my OBGYN said it was okay as long as I would be careful, and don't worry, I was. I don't think I fell that whole summer. Jack just hangs out. The water and feel of the engine seem to calm him down and most of the time he falls asleep. My mom said I was the same way when I was younger - so we do have a few things in common...?

He also liked wearing his sunglasses. I thought the sunglasses / pacifier combination was hilarious.

That same day I also took Jackso for a little ride on the 4-wheelers at my parents house. He was a little nervous in the beginning but seemed to warm up towards the end. Needless to say - we had a really fun Saturday. There are so many fun things to do here in the summer, I look forward to all of our adventures!

Carrer Change

It is interesting how we THINK our futures should be, and suddenly we are exposed to what our future IS going to be. Scott and I always thought we would be going to dental school. We have worked and prepared for it, we have $payed$ for it! and we have $saved$ for it. With that being said, the past few months we have realized our future is not what we thought it would be.

We will be staying in Utah and Scott is going to work with his brother Brad in appraisals. In the beginning this was a very difficult decision to make. It was hard to walk away from something we have worked so hard towards. But our feelings continued to turn us away from dental school and towards appraisals. Since we have made a final decision and actually said it out loud, our choice has never been more confirmed that we are headed in the right direction.

Scott and I are so excited for this "new" future and what it holds for us. We are so glad to stay in Utah with my family and by Brad and Jaime. Scott can't wait to work with Brad and get going on his future. Thank you Brad and Jaime for moving here and giving us this opportunity! I hope we are not the only reason for your difficult move.

AZ... fun times

What a week! We had a great time in AZ with the Randalls. The weather was perfect, Kristens wedding was amazing, Jenna has the cuttest belly bump, and the malls are awesome! Jaime and I decided to be brave and pack all the kids in my car and make the long dreaded drive to Mesa.

We drove 1/2 way to St. George, spent the night there, and then got up early in the morning and drove the rest of the way. Above you can see all the kids in their carseats. This was taken early in the morning when we left St. Geroge (check out lillies hair - awesome right!) Suprisingly, the drive was great. The kids really hung in there and did a great job.

Scott and Brad drove down later in the week, once they were done with work. I was so excited to see Scott and to no longer be a single mother, he said he was sick of being a bachelor - good thing!

Kristens wedding was so fun. The sealing was amazing. It was so exciting to see all of Scotts siblings married and in the temple! Kristen and Garrett were so happy. The reception was at Las Sendas and was beautiful. Her colors were white and yellow. As we were taking pictures Kristen looked at everyone and said "Yellow is such a happy color"! It was, and so was everyone wearing it!

One of the most creative things Kristen did was her "guest book". Instead of having people sign a book when they came in she had bridesmaids taking polaroid's of all the guests as they walked in the door. Then they would sign the bottom of picture. I posted ours as the family picture on the top right of the page. Cute idea, right!
