I called the hospital Morning at 7 am to see if they could fit me in to be induced. Thankfully, they said yes, so we packed up the car dropped Jack off at Brad and Jaimes and headed out to the hospital. It was the weirdest feeling knowing that I was going in to have a baby that day - especially since I wasn't in any pain. I was nervous, scared, excited, anxious... it was all very overwhelming.
At about 9:30 am they started me on a petosin drip. Slowly the contractions began... but nothing too crazy. The doctor came in about 11:00 am to break my water. That was an interesting feeling... I knew that my contractions would start to really kick in after my water was broke so I asked the nurse to have the anesthesiologist come in right away and give me my epidural - no pain = happiness! He was right on time and I was soon feeling good and numb.
At about 2:00 pm the nurse came in to check on me and I was already dialated to a 9, I was starting to feel alot of pressure so I knew the delivery was coming soon. The doctor came in and said that I was ready to start pushing with the nurse. He knew that I had pushed for 3 hours with Jackson so he was guessing it would be about an hour with Clara. He said he would be in his office (just upstairs) and that the nurse would page him when I was ready and he would come right back down. He left. The nurse had me push one time and told then said, "wait, stop... we need the doctor, she is crowing". Hoo-ray! The doctor came right back down, I pushed 2 times and there she was! He laid her right on my belly and had Scott cut the cord. It was so incredible to see it all and have it happen so fast! So much better than my 17 hour labor and 3 hours of pushing with Jackson.
We named her Clara Rose Randall. Clara is the name of my Great Grandmother. And Rose is my Grandma. I love these two women and wanted to have a little girl with their names as a remembrance and a tribute to these two amazing women!
Here we are right after. I can't believe how "normal" I look. I will post pictures of me after with Jackson - I was haggered... and it showed.
He came in the room, looked at her for a little while, gave her a kiss on the forehead and then was off doing his own thing. It was great. Cute but not all over her - just how I want it.
Clara brought Jackson a gift when she came home from the hospital. A spiderman scooter. He loves it! I think it makes him feel special and maybe more importantly gave him something to entertain him and keep him busy with while I tried to get settled at home with a new baby and a 2 1/2 yr old.
Clara Rose,
Welcome to the world little angel. We love you.
Love,
Mommy Daddy and Jack
