Where did you meet your husband?

In provo. My roomates were friends with his. He was always over at my apartment. But when I found out we were both divers... that is when we really connected. So cute.

What is the first thing you said to your husband?

I don't remember the first thing either of us said. But he did said some pretty funny things when we were getting to know eachother.

conversation #1:

Scott: "Were you a cheerleader?"

McCall: "Umm, no."

Scott: "Good, my sisters were."

(i am STILL trying to figure out what that means?)

conversation #2:

McCall: ... la la la la... (singing along to a Jimmy Eat World song) la la la...

Scott: "You know Jimmy Eat World, how do you know who they are!?!"

McCall: "I had a boyfriend who was into them".

Scott: "Oh."

(i don't think he liked my response. boyfriends = touchy subject)

(Scott grew up going to Jimmy concerts in Mesa, I think his "1"

claim to fame is hanging at Jimmy's house after a show. Maybe he thought only people in Mesa knew who they were???)

Yeah - Scott was a little "funny" (sometimes i like to say nerdy), when we dated. He had just got home from his mission one month before. He was still pretty fresh.

Where was your first date?

This is funny: the day after we kissed he met me at the mall during my lunch break (I worked at Robyn Todd), and we ate at Subway. He even payed for me. So sweet.

Where was your first kiss?

My apartment. We met up at Fall Fling at BYU, he came back and watched a movie (we really watched the whole thing, it wasn't until after the movie was over that we kissed). But the funny part is, he pulled the... I am going to get up and go, but then quickly turned around and planted one on me. I think I was laughing inside, it wasn't quite as smooth as he hoped it would be.

Did you have a long or short courtship/engagement?

Courtship: I don't know if you would call it long or short. We dated on and off for 1 year. Engagement: short, just 4 months.

Where did you get engaged?

In my backyard. It was so sweet. He was living in Mesa, I was in SLC. He surprised me by flying in and showing up at dinner (I was supposed to be meeting my Grandpa). We then went back to my house and the whole backyard was decorated, It was amazing! Of course, my whole family was in on it, so they were all watching us from the windows. It is so funny to hear them all talk about watching Scott get down on one knee. And my little brothers comments when he saw us kissing... "Ewwwww Dad, they're kissing!"

Where did you get married?

Mesa, AZ. Temple. October, 18 2003.

How did your reception go?

We didn't do a reception. We had a beautiful dinner with close friends and family. It was incredible. Perfect for us, I loved it!

How was the honeymoon?

We spent a few nights at a beautiful resort in Scottsdale. But, Scott was an athlete at BYU and was in the middle of his training. We had to get him back to practice. I think we are still waiting

for the honeymoon get-a-way.

FHE Boards

When I was little my mom had a Family Home Evening board that she used to teach all of her lessons. Every time my sister, Melissa, comes to town we talk about making one for each of us to have - but always failed to get around to it (they are quite a bit of work). Finally, we did it! It took us a while to figure out where to get everything, we ended up at a few different places... Home Depot, JoAnns Fabrics, and some metal place in Salt Lake.

So here is how they work - There are 4 sides. A white board, a magnet board, a flannel side, and a side with plastic pockets to hold up word strips. You can set it up all different ways... whatever works best for the lesson that you are teaching. And then to carry it... you just fold it up and there are handels to hold it with. It really is sooooo awesome!



I am so glad my sisters were so persistant in finding all the materials and getting it done. I kept saying I thought it was way too much work. But, I am so glad we did them. It will be so nice to have for FHE... now I just need to get going on making the lessons!

My Sister Visits!

My sister Melissa came to visit last week. She is living in Denver, which is not too far (its about an 8 hour drive), so thankfully she comes to visit quite a bit. She came in Tuesday night and stayed until Sunday afternoon. We spent the week doing crafts and trying to get our boys to be friends... at their age (3 and 1 1/2... not likely). We went to the lake Saturday morning. The little ones LOVE the boat. By the end they were all sound asleep - so cute! Saturday night we watched the BYU game. We were soooo sad to see our team loose! Better luck next game.

Jackson loves the cats at my parents house. The white cat that he is holding puts up with the kids pretty well. We think she secretly likes the torture.
Kids always LOVE my dad. He is so sweet and tender they can never get enough. You should hear Jack everytime we see a big truck (my dad has a big red one - in the background you can see it), whenever we drive to Heber (he knows that drive all too well), as we pull up to the Heber Appliance store.... he yells "pa pa, pa pa"... he gets so excited to see my dad. It is soooo cute. Below: Henry and Jack are playing football with papa.
Scott was supposed to buzz Miles head - instead Miles ended up with a sweet mow-hock/mulet. I think Miles thought he looked pretty tough. What is it with guys wanting to have a mulet? It is so nasty.
We did some really fun crafts. We made some really cute picture frames that were all over swiss days. I had no idea they were so easy to make until my sister-in-law Jaime told me how. They are so fun and look sooooo cute when they are all done. We also made these really cool FHE boards. I will post more about those later.
My mom has a lot of the train tracks at her house. Jackson loved playing with them. I think I am going to have to get him his own set for Christmas.

Henry loved the feel of the wind in his face! Melissa's little Jetta Jane is 6months and such a happy baby, it is such a fun age.

It was so cold. I can't belive Miles and Scott actually got in the water. Boys always think they are so tough! They were fun to watch surf. In the picture Miles was starting to fall out of the wake so Scott threw him the rope, I think it just about ripped his arms out of their sockets. Note to self: don't try to catch handle when boat is moving faster than you.
I am so lucky to have such an amazing family. I had so much fun with them all week. Melissa, I love that you are so close and we get to see all the time!

Labor Day Weekend... fun fun fun!

Wow wow wow! What a weekend! We have had sooooo much fun. Scotts mom Lisa came in town on Friday and it has been a non-stop party. Saturday we went to Swiss Days which I posted about earlier. From there Scott and Brad went to the BYU game and us girls took all the kids back to Jaimes and had Taco Bell (yummy!) and made cup cakes. It was so much fun, we loved decorating and of course... eating! Jackson thought it was fun to feed me his slobbered on, 1/2 eaten cup-cake with his lovely fingers.... yuck!

The kids had fun watching Robin Hood while the adults "played" battle of the sexes. Scotts family is soooo competetive. We love to play games - but it always gets so heated. I think we made Jackson cry a few tooo many times from yelling to loud!
Below: Jacks and Lillie are always fighting for Nana Lisa's attention... she is so loved!Monday we spent the day in beatuiful Park City! We started out at the Alpine Slide. SOOOOOO much fun. We took Jack up and he LOVED it. I was a little nervous about him going, but Scott took him faster than I went - and he was loving the speed... I guess I am the cautious one of the family.
I love Park City. The mountains are so amazing and the cool fresh air smells so good. We took the chair lift up to the top. It was a little scary having Jackson on the chair - both Scott and I were so worried he would fall through the cracks. But he did pretty good sitting still. I think he liked being up high and being able to see everything. Walking to the slide... "this is going to be so fun!"Hold on tight! Jackson loved it... I can't quite tell if he is more on the thrill seeking side or a little cautious. He varies from day to day and of course depending on the activity... if he is anything like Scott - watch out, I hope we have good insurance coverage!Mommy and Jack. I love you! I can never get enough - he makes me so happy and always keeps me smiling! I am so blessed to have him. Jack and Lillie - watch out! Right now they sort of have a "love/hate" relationship. But both Jaime and I agree that give them a year or two these two will be best pals.
Later that day we met up with my family. We went to the movies and the Grandmas took all the kids to Artic Tale (its a March of the Penguins type movie) and the rest of us saw Bourne Ultimatim. AWESOME! We loved loved loved it. Some people had already seen it, but they said it was even better the second time. One of those movies you understand more and pick up on the little things.

After we got out of the movies we headed to main street and had dinner at Ciscro's. Its a great Italian place that we have eaten at with Jenna and Dennis.

The whole weekend has been so much fun. It has been great having Lisa and Martin here. We are so sad to see them leave and for the weekend to end. Happy Labor Day! I hope everyone else did something fun too... if not - come spend a weekend with us and we will be sure to show you a good time... we are just soooo fun! ha ha.

SWISS DAYS Midway, UT

Swiss Days comes every year to Midway, UT. And, it is soooo much fun! It is Midways celebration for their community. They have a variety of vendors that set up booths and sell different things. Everything sold supposed to be homemade. Although, some of it is not. Oh-well... we love it all anyways! My mom and sister did a booth last year and were accepted to do it again this year (you have to apply). My mom and her friend make the cutest! handbags. My sisters husband has a ceramic mushroom company (they are the best yard decorations!), so she sells those. And, my aunt joined in this year with some beautiful vintage little girls dresses. It is so much work for all of them... but always worth it, they come out with quite a bit of cash in their pockets. I wish I had a talent to execute that would put cash in my pocket too... but I guess I am better at "putting" the cash in other peoples pockets than my own... I am just sooo giving! ha ha. I went up and "tried" to help set up. I think little Jack and I got in the way more than anything, but we had fun spending time and pretending like we were part of it.

The dress above is one of the many amazing vintage dresses that my aunt made. They were all so adorable! Everything she puts on them is top of the line... I wish I had some little girls to dress them in!
Jaime and I dragged the kids and our husbands up with us on Saturday. I think they thought we were insane... but it was still fun. If you live in Utah and have never been to this event, you have to go next year. They do it every Labor Day weekend, the Friday and Saturday before Labor Day. The booths have a ton of great things you can't resist buying so make sure your pockets are well supplied with plenty of $cash$.

Lately we have been spending alot of time in the car. Where we moved there is not too much around us. But thankfully the freeway is especially close. So we have been all over the place just to get out and do things... I hate being in a house all day long. I get sooooo bored! I have also been spending alot of time with my parents that live in Heber, about 1 hour away, and my sister that lives in SLC, about 20 min away. Jackson has pretty much been raised in the car. So thankfully he does okay in his carseat. The other day he was set on bringing his BIG BEAR with and not just having it in the car with him but on top of him! He looked so cute sunggled in his seat with a huge suffed animal on top of him and then his aviator sunglasses... kids. ha ha.
