Scott's Break - The Zoo

Our first day of summer break started out with GREASY FOOD FAMILY. What could be better?

We went to Oinkster in Eagle Rock. Most restaurants out here say the calories on their menu. Its a good thing this place didn't... because lets just say we really indulged.

We then headed over to the LA Zoo. The kids LOVED the animals.

Wesley is SO BIG. Pretty sure he is one of the cutest little guys out there.

Thanks to Garretts dads recommendation, we got our snowcones on!

Clara loves her Aunt Kwisten!

We have been missing family out here. Jackson & Clara are always asking for their cousins... so it was great to have a day with Garrett, Kristen, & Wes. We love you guys!

1 year down... 3 more to go!

I am so proud of Scott for completing his 1ST YEAR OF DENTAL SCHOOL.

It was not easy. The amount of material that he had to get through, the tests that he survived, and the lack of sleep that added up was insane. I look back at it all and don't know how he survived. I know I would have quit... and I am not kidding.

Scott I am so proud of you! I can't wait for the next 2 1/2 weeks of your summer break! And then of course, it's back to work!

13.1

Woke up at 4 am. Drove 30 min to Fontana. Loaded the bus & sat next to a man that has been running this race for 21 years! I tried keeping the conversation going on the drive up, I was worried that if we stopped talking my nerves would get the best of me and I might puke all over him! We arrived at the top of the canyon and I did my best to stay warm while we waited for 1 hour until the horn finally blew.

The first 4 miles were FREEZING. And all I was in was my tank and shorts. My legs and feet were numb. But I still felt great. The miles were coming up fast than I could have imagined. We came out of the canyon to sunshine! Once I hit mile 8 I kept thinking I would get tired. But with each mile, I honestly felt better and better... which most likely meant I could have pushed myself harder... but this being my first 1/2 the last thing I wanted to do was loose energy and have to walk (heaven forbid).

As I came up to the finish line I saw Scott with the kids cheering me on... it was so great seeing their faces! I crossed the line 20 minutes faster than I had guessed!

I seriously cannot believe that I just did this. I NEVER thought I could run 13.1 miles and actually feel good about it! But I did... and it was AWESOME!

Filling our summer days....

Jackson is out of school... which means our summer has officially begun! I feel like if we don't do at least 1 fun thing a day, my kids go crazy. In fact, almost every morning that Jackson wakes up the first he asks is, "What fun things are we doing today?".

So here are a a couple of things we filled our week with...

An afternoon at the Theaters watching Kung Fu Panda 2. This had to be my kids favorite movie we have seen in the theaters. After it was over Jackson said, "Now lets go find one of the workers and ask him if we can buy this movie".
We invited some friends over to the pool for a day of swimming. The water is still cold - but that doesn't keep these crazy kids from getting in!
Now all I have to do is think of 90 more activities to keep these kids entertained. Any ideas?

Griffith Park & The Observatory

I had no idea how big Griffith Park was! There is so much to do, I am sure we will be spending a lot more time there this summer.

We looked at the trains & had a picnic.

We went to the observatory and didn't even get through half of it. The kids were worn out and rush hour was getting close so we all decided to head off... knowing that we would be back for more later this summer.
From The Observatory we had a great view of the famous "HOLLYWOOD" sign.
And a great view of the city.
I
I love the outside of this building and just the fact that it is up on top of the mountain makes it absolutely incredible!

Goodbye Emma & Adam

Our dear Friends are moving on Tuesday. To say that we will miss them is an understatement. We have loved living in the same complex, spending afternoons at the pool, day trips to Disney Land, seeing them at church, count less park outings, and of course Sunday Dinners!

Day Date in L.A.

Saturday Scott and I took off for a few hours to L.A.

We started out with lunch at the Nickel Diner. It was a cute little diner right in downtown.
Our food was great, minus the $3.00 for a can of Diet Coke, and the "highly recommended bacon donut", which is definitely not "highly recommended".
We then went to Santee Alley.
*Note to self... never go on a Saturday.
 China town...
 Pork or duck?
